Living the unbearable and the risks of getting on with life: narratives of LGBTQIAP+ individuals sheltered by Casa 1In this article I analyze the constitution of the house and the street as spaces for violating and suppressing the existences of LGBTQIAP+ people. The constitutive experiences of these places derive from the memories of the people who inhabit and live in Casa 1, a shelter and cultural center located in the city of São Paulo. Through the remembrances of these people, I will show, firstly, how the family home is a place where their desires and subjectivities are violated daily, producing a common experience of the unbearable and the unbreathable. Secondly, I will demonstrate how the street, after the process of expulsion from the family home, becomes a space of danger and risk for the lives of these LGBTQIAP+ people, creating another shared experience among them. In this way, I argue, finally, that the family becomes a destructive agent and a risk to the lives of their LGBTQIAP+ children.
