Open-access Product complexity and production volumes as determining factors of small and medium-sized automotive supplier development strategies

Abstract

This paper describes the various development strategies for small and medium suppliers of three large automotive groups in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The strategies these three groups adopt are based on a combination of two factors: product complexity (defined by the number of items a product comprises) and production volumes.
