Open-access Luhmannian theory and the education system

This article presents an integrative review of the literature in the form of a state-of-the-art study, which sought and analyzed scientific works in which the luhmannian theory of social systems was used as a theoretical-methodological approach to research on educational systems. The methodology of the state of the issue study was used, which collaborates in the construction of the object of investigation intended by the researcher. It is noteworthy that Luhmann’s theory of social systems, from the 1970s and 1980s onwards, had extensive debate in the European academic context, but is still little used for the analysis of the Brazilian educational system and can bring significant contributions to a better understanding of actions (communications) as an autopoietic social system.
