Objective: It aims to propose indicators, in the form of capillarity, in order to meet the strategic, tactical and operational levels of hospital administration, serving as the basis for an information system for decision making. Identifies the information needs and demands of the Hospital Universitário do Paraná (HUPR), Brazil, and defines hospital indicators for structuring an information system to enhance its effective use in the decision-making process.
Methods: Exploratory and descriptive research and a case study. As a data collection instrument, a form with specific internal indicators for hospitals is used, drawn from a basic list of indicators. Use this form to carry out informational diagnostic interviews with those responsible for the HUPR Planning Service, Management, Coordination, Functional Units, Services and Consultancies.
Results: With the analysis of the collected data, a proposal for capillarity of indicators is created. It applies a viability test for implementing the indicators, verifying that the classification of the indicators is circumstantial. Aligned with HUPR's strategic planning, it prepares a list of indicators classified as strategic, tactical and operational for each guideline. Conduct a study compared with indicators used in another university hospital in the South Region of Brazil.
Conclusion: It includes structure indicators, process indicators, results indicators and indicators applied to teaching, research and extension, with a total of 774 indicators which could serve to add value to information and support an organizational intelligence proposal.
