Open-access Decoloniality in the field of library: the intersection with the university library

Objective:  aims to contribute with aspects, reflections and theories related to decoloniality in the field of Librarianship, more precisely in the field of university libraries, verifying existing decolonial actions with regard to culture and practices through the integration of the library and its users.

Methods:   It uses the theoretical qualitative method with emphasis on epistemology and research in bibliographic sources.

Results:  The context of decolonial relations in the academic scenario is verified, covering the areas of education, social, cultural and information. It is also verified how the librarian, through their training, can work with aspects related to decoloniality. Finally, the issue of diversity in academic libraries is seen both in the theoretical and practical aspects, related to the best actions of promotion and social equity.

Conclusions:  It presents some issues related to decoloniality in university libraries and the role of the librarian as a social agent.
