O mercado regulado de carbono no Brasil

The increasing effects of climate change have reinforced the urgency of adaptation and mitigation. One important instrument has been the regulated carbon market. Only in December 2024 did Brazil approve the creation of the regulated market, but it is still without regulation. Thus, the objective of this work is to reflect on the creation of the regulated carbon market in Brazil. To this end, the study carried out a bibliographic review of international and national experiences and legislative discussions, such as bills and the Brazilian Greenhouse Gas Emissions Trading System (SBCE). The results show that, despite the approval of the SBCE, fundamental issues for its implementation are still lacking, in addition to the lack of definition of the role of the agricultural sector.
