Emerson Maione is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of International Relations and Defense of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (IRID-UFRJ). He holds a PhD in Political Science from the Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF) and a Master’s in International Relations from IRI/PUC-Rio. He was a visiting researcher at the Institute of the Americas of University College London (UCL) and is Researcher at the Defense and Security Studies Laboratory (LESD) of IRID-UFRJ. He has published articles and reviews in the following peer reviewed academic journals: Brazilian Political Science Review, Revista Brasileira de Política Brasileira de Política Internacional, Contexto Internacional, Cena Internacional, Boletim Meridiano 47, Mural International, Monções: Journal of International Relations of UFGD, Conjuntura Internacional (PUC-Minas), Carta Internacional (ABRI). He is a member of the Brazilian Association of International Relations (ABRI), the International Studies Association (ISA), the Brazilian Association of Defense Studies (ABED) and the Research Network on Peace, Conflict and Critical Security Studies (PCECS - https://redepcecs.com). His areas of interest and research include: Transitional Justice (Truth Commissions, Reconciliation, Reparations and Memory, Gender Justice), International Relations Theory (particularly: English School; International Political Sociology; Poststructuralism, De/Postcolonial Studies, Queers/Intersectional perspectives), Critical Security Studies, Brazilian Foreign Policy, Michel Foucault, Gender and Sexualities, LGBTQI+ Activism and Rights; U.S. LGBTQI+ Foreign Policy; Humanitarian Issues (Humanitarian Intervention; R2P; Mass Atrocities; Conflict Resolution); Peace Operations; Human Rights: Human Rights in Brazil and in the world; the role of NGOs; Human Rights in the UN system and the Inter-American system; Foreign Policy and Human Rights.
Renan Quinalha is a Professor of Law (Judicial Institutions and Citizenship) at the Paulista School of Politics, Economics and Business of the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP), Coordinator of the Law course of Unifesp (2021 - 2023), and Deputy Coordinator of the Trans Trans Center at Unifesp (2021 - 2023). He holds a PhD in International Relations at the University of São Paulo (IRI - USP), a Master’s in General Theory and Philosophy of Law by the Law School of the University of São Paulo (FDUSP), an undergraduate degree in Social Sciences at the University of Philosophy, Literature and Human Sciences of the University of São Paulo (FFLCH-USP) and Bachelor of Laws from the University of São Paulo (FDUSP). He is a former member of the Cultural Orientation Council of the Memorial of Resistance of São Paulo (2016 - 2022), the Council of the Center for Forensic Anthropology and Archaeology (CAAF/Unifesp) and the Advisory Council of the General Ombudsman of the Public Defender’s Office of the State of São Paulo. He is a lawyer registered at OAB/SP and President of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Center for Preservation of Political Memory
