Sources of information for steel sector

Abstract

Nowadays, a great difficulty in organizations is the selection of information sources, both for business aspects and daily actions. This paper emphasizes external information sources, which may be useful in creating a library for a company in the iron and steel industry. The importance of the Internet, national and international data bases as well as aspects of acquisition of information sources for the iron and steel industry have been analyzed. Based upon the experience of the Information Department of Sistema Usiminas, it shows aspects of the selection and organization of a library with reliable information sources, compatible costs and adequate diversification. The paper presents tables indicating the main information sources for the iron and steel industry.
