SUMMARY
During 1966 and 1967 a factorial trial (NP 24) was installed in Red Yellow Latosol in the presence and absence of lime for drytaeans at Pariquera-Açu, State of São Paulo.
Phosphorus fertilization increased linear and significantly both dry bean yield and phosphorus content of the leaflets, independently of the liming. On the other hand, liming contributed to an increase in bean yield and calcium and magnesium content of the leaflets.
A statistically significant correlation between dry bean yield and phosphorus content in the leaflets could be established. Such correlation is represented by the linear regression equation: y = 417.66 + 3.422,5x (y = yield; x = % of P in total dry matter of the leaflet).
