Open-access The Ax Forgets, the Tree Remembers: Art, Allegory and Ancestry in the Production of Denis Moreira

Based on a reflection on the work Manuel Querino Dan (2024), by the young artist from São Paulo city, Denis Moreira, the text proposes a study of Moreira's production, taking as guidelines, on the one hand, certain aspects of Afro-diasporic art in Brazil and, on the other, the use by contemporary artists of allegorical procedures for the production of their works.
