Swine cells IB-RS-2 were exposed to 20,0-100,0µg/ml medium of chloramphenicol for 72 hours. Toe data obtained showed that chlorarnphenicol inhibited cell growth and that this effect depends on the concentration and time of cell exposure to the compound This inhibition increased when the cells were exposed simultaneously to chloramphenicol (60,0µg/ml) and DDT (20,0µg/ml) or aldrin (20,0µg/ml). Toe possibility that these effects could be refated to the metabolism of carbohydrates is discussed since chloramphenicol increased glucose utilization and this effect increased when the cells were simultaneously exposed to the insecticides.
